I’m not going out to upset anyone, but the headline news today, reminds me of a blog post I only wrote a few days ago…

I’m not a clairvoyant obviously, I just spoke (wrote) from my heart about a very upsetting situation I found myself in…
The guy I wrote about, my mate Julian, got himself into a very serious situation, similar in many ways to Brad Pitt as we are starting to hear…
But obviously different in other respects, which I’ll explain in a minute…
However with the proposed breakup of the ‘Hollywood Golden Couple’ it brings home, hard, that every relationship can flounder and crumble like a pack of cards…
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been together about 12 years, which in itself is an achievement in the often rocky movieland relationship field.
I read there are “irreconcilable differences” – and probably most of the excuses you’ll probably read over the next week or so will be trumped up sensationalism.
But what matters most is how will this breakup affect their children.
I remember how hard it was for me when my parents broke up as an 8 year old…
I definitely didn’t realise what was happening.
I don’t think I even knew what the word ‘divorce’ meant.
But I remember like it was yesterday when I heard this word the very first time in my life…
This was round about the time my father ‘disappeared’…
I was off school with chickenpox, and I remember hearing my mother on the phone…
I sensed she wasn’t happy…
I knew it was wrong to listen in to someone’s phone call, but I dunno, I just knew she was stressed out about something…
I think I could feel her pain on the phone, which made me eavesdrop on the call.
Then I heard the word that would change my life forever…
“Divorce…”
I guessed later that she must have been talking to her lawyer at the time.
Like I said, I didn’t know what ‘divorce’ meant…
So I looked it up in my dictionary…
‘Legally dissolve a marriage by a court or other competent body’…
Huhh!
I was starting to piece this puzzle together…
Why Dad wasn’t around, why we’d moved house, moved area, left my old school…
So I can really feel for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s children right now…
Especially the younger ones…
Moral of the story?
If you’re in Brad’s position where you might lose contact with your children.

As a stay at home dad (or stay at home mum of course)…
